Cranky Cupcake
It’s April 1, and people are posting all their “pranks” online. People are suddenly “in a relationship” or “getting married” or “pregnant.” I don’t know about you, but I feel like it’s disrespectful to joke about those things because they’re things that people actually have as part of their reality. :(
Here, have a picture of me being a cranky cupcake.

Dolldelight’s Kawaii Pinay Meet! ♡

image

I’ve known Cy of dolldelight for years. I first met her online four years ago, and had the pleasure of meeting her face-to-face a short while before she left for the US. I never quite knew when she was coming back for a visit, so it was pleasant news to find out she’s in the Philippines for a bit!

She had a meet-and-greet in Tokyo Bubble Tea prior to this more exclusive one, which I didn’t get to go to. I came in pretty late for this one too, because of other obligations. That, and I had to drive really carefully lest I damage my car fixtures with my nail art, which I’ll post about later. XD

image

Outfit photo! I had two outfits planned for this meet, but went with a more himekaji-inspired look because I didn’t feel like being completely covered up with long sleeves and OTKs (I blame the heat in this country, haha). I insisted on showing off my nails because those were ridiculously difficult for me to stick on. XD I’ll be shooting my outfit some other time. This is probably the last time I’ll depend solely on my phone for photos of a meetup, the pictures turned out really bad. :(

Marching to the beat of my own drum. (on LOOKBOOK.nu)
I learned early on that many of the things I’m passionate about were not… “normal.” People normally expressed confusion, sometimes even outright condescendence, at my hobbies and collections.
Theater played a major role in my childhood, it’s my first love. I guess I owe my love for the more dramatic things to that. Transformation became my hobby, something that I wanted to do even offstage. It took me years to finally start living my “mahou shoujo transformation” dreams, but I don’t think I’m giving it up for a long while.
When going with anything “unusual,” one is bound to encounter people who are against everything you do. “Why do you wear wigs? They’re gross” or “Why can’t you be normal?” are examples of what people have said to me. I don’t really like “normal,” but I don’t force other people to enjoy what I like, because I respect that people are different and will therefore like different things. I often wish I could ask the same of others.
People will fear or dislike anything that they do not know much about. If we could instead choose to learn more about these things and respect that people enjoy these, no matter how unusual these are, I think we’d all get along much better. As long as you aren’t actually hurting anybody (within reason, of course, because some people are easily offended by anything and everything), I think it would be best not to listen to the naysayers. I’ve considered giving up my hobbies before, but I’m still doing them, because they make me happy.

February Wishlist: Wigs!

I am a wig addict, I don’t think there’s any way to hide that. XD For this month’s wishlist, here are a couple of wigs from Gothic Lolita Wigs that I would love to add to my collection.

1. Classic (Wavy) - Mint [top left]
I love mint-colored things, and this wig will probably fit with a lot of my newer wardrobe pieces. I’ve also got plans for it. <3

2. Classic (Wavy) - Peachy Pink [bottom left]
I love this color! I’m not too fond of the usual light pink or deep pink, but this shade is beautiful. I’m a fan of nearly anything that’s pink, and I don’t have enough pink wigs in my collection, I think. XD

3. Baby Dollight - Minty Lavender [top middle]
I have the long version of GLW’s Babydoll Minty Lavender, but it was the runt of the lot and much thinner than most of the other long Babydoll wigs I have. I’d like to get a fuller version which I can use for more often. I’d like to preserve my first one. XD

4. Baby Dollight - Strawberries and Cream [bottom middle]
Again, I have the long version of the Babydoll Strawberries and Cream, and the base wig’s running on the thin side, so I’d like to get this fuller version. I’d like to be able to wear the base wig by itself without it looking thin, don’t want any netting showing through.

5. Duchess Elodie - Auburn [top right]
I love this color. I have a good number of GLWs in this color already, all of different styles, a few of them already phased out. I just LOVE this color, and want it in every style I can get it. XD

6. Duchess Elodie - Black Plum [bottom left]
I was planning to get the Duchess Black Plum for a cosplay, but then they re-made the line into the Duchess Elodie, which combines two lines that I loved: the Long Curly series and the Duchess. I’m definitely still getting it.

——————————————

I’ll likely be using these mostly for fashion, I doubt I’ll be doing any cosplays that won’t be needing special/custom wigs any time soon. XD

This is NOT a sponsored post.

Thank goodness it’s Friday!
It’s been a rollercoaster week and I just want things to slow down. Been sickly, and frustrated with my lack of progress on stuff I’ve been meaning to work on. I’m really looking forward to just chilling and working on my projects at my own pace this weekend. XD

OOTD: A Little More Serious
I enjoy Japanese street fashion, but I don’t get to wear awesome stuff like that to work. :( Here’s a OOTD from yesterday, which sums up how I usually look at work. Not completely corporate, but still dressed up somewhat nicely. My hair is usually in a bun, too, but I thought that would make me look too strict in this outfit. XD
Neutral makeup all around, sometimes I wear falsies, but you can’t see them here, hahahahaha. I’m almost always wearing glasses, since I hate the hassle of wearing contact lenses every morning, especially when I wake up with dry eyes. :(
I’m considering posting more OOTDs from work, maybe…

Back to Business!
Now that the Valentine’s weekend is almost up (on this side of the world, anyway), I’ll be going back to “work”: Fixing my room and finding all my materials again. XD I’ve still got something sweet planned for this month, and I hope I manage to finish it in time.
Speaking of sweet stuff, I need to cut down. HAHAHAHA working on getting back into shape in time for my birthday, and maybe just in time for a certain cosplay to debut at this year’s Toycon! I’ll post about it some more in the coming months. :P I’d also like to accomplish another pin-up shoot this year, since I’ve had fun with my shots so far, just like this one shot by my dear friend, JR. :)
More (hopefully sweet!) updates soonish, darlings!

HOW DO YOU VALENTINE’S?!
This is the first shot I’m releasing from last Saturday’s shoot! I am sooooo gorgeous here. XD Here’s the Valentine’s greeting I did last 2012. I regret not doing a new one last year. :(
So yeah, it’s the day of love. Not the day exclusively for couples, but for people you love. Though I believe we should be showing our loved ones that we love them all year round, we can probably afford to go the extra mile today. <3
Whether you’re spending Valentine’s with your significant other, your brothers and sisters, your best friends, your grandparents, your parents, your dog, your neighbor’s dog(!), I hope you have a good one. :)

A Sweet Mid-Week Pick-Me-Up on LOOKBOOK.nu
The sweet substyle of lolita really is where my heart is. I’ve been leaning towards more toned-down sweet, as proven by my more recent purchases and coordinates. However, nothing beats looking like a walking cake. XD and I love love love the strawberry print on this JSK.
Not sure if anyone has noticed, but I’m also a fan of using regular/non-lolita tops in my coordinates. I know that there’s a bit of hate going on for it, but it looks nicer to me. I like lolita blouses, but don’t want to be limited to that, either.

Chocolate for Valentine’s ♥
Everybody’s fussing over Valentine’s this month, so I thought I’d do a chocolate-y coord sometime. :D I got the Baby, The Stars Shine Bright JSK and head bow from a friend, and I stumbled on the Liz Lisa blouse at a thrift shop!
What I love about this blouse is that it’s sheer and light. It’s very cool to the skin and has this interesting dot pattern that actually consists of little tufts of thread. I’ll probably get better photos of the details when I shoot in this outfit. :D
I didn’t get to include the bag or the shoes in the photo, sorry about that! I’m using my M’Lady bag for this, and I’m still saving up for the specific pair of shoes that I really want for this outfit. Those shoes would also go with a lot of my other clothes, so I think it’ll be worth the wait. ♥
Definitely a little more old-school, but I’ve been gravitating towards simpler stuff lately. My printed pieces are still in my wardrobe and I still love them, but there are still ways to look like a walking cupcake without having it printed on your clothes. XD
Love,Vanessa
