Coming out of hi-bear-nation!
I know, I’m so punny. OTL
I’ll be booping around Toycon this coming Saturday. Not gonna drop by any other days, just Day 2. If you spot a pink bear, don’t be shy, say hi! :D

The Little White Dress
People keep talking about the Little Black Dress (LBD) and how it’s an absolute style essential. I don’t deny that - I actually own 7 LBDs in varying degrees of formality - but I feel that the Little White Dress deserves some loving, too.
White clothes are often avoided because they’re giant stain targets. If you’re careful, though, your whites can go pretty far. I decided to dress this up by adding glittery pumps and a clutch, with an updo. It could be dressed down with a denim jacket and sneakers, too.
Yes, I know that white isn’t exactly the most forgiving color in terms of creating illusions of curves or defining shape, but the LWD comes in so many styles and cuts that there’s bound to be at least one out there for you. It’s a lighter, breezier option. (Can you tell yet how much I adore white?)

I have… “cat moments”
I am easily distracted, usually by shiny things. Or cake. Yep.
This is another shot from the Colors shoot I had with David a couple of months ago. There are several more “cat moment” shots - and plenty of ugly faces I made - from this set, but I’ll stop at one. I don’t think the world is ready to see a full compilation of all my awkweird faces yet. XD

Project: Siren Song (update 2 - hair)
I originally wanted to do long, loose waves for this project, but realized it would cover up the top part of the bodice of my gown. Since there’s supposed to be a bit of beadwork there, I don’t want to cover it up with my hair.
I decided to go with a more 60’s beehive look so that my shoulders and neck are left bare for accessorizing, and my gown won’t be covered by hair. My real hair is definitely not long enough to do this, so I’m using one of my favorite wigs for it. The headband’s temporary, I’ll be making a headdress to match the beadwork I’ll be doing on the dress. I just wanted to show where the bump starts.
Currently loving the bangs flipping away from my face, and the tendrils near my ear that frame my cheeks. I’ll be doing a different update for the makeup sometime. :)

This is what I’ve done with my weekend so far…

I’ve tried on my new wig haul, and I’m super excited to try these Dolluxe falsies! :D I actually did sorta nice eye makeup, but lighting’s horrible in my room, and Philippine weather is absolutely schizo, becoming completely gray in the middle of the day, so I can’t depend on natural light. :(

I also went a bit crazy and hoarded a good bit of stuff from Coastal Scents. I couldn’t resist! I want to do more makeup looks because I have a bunch of wigs and falsies and stuff that I also want to get more mileage from. Stocked up on eye shadow (the 252 and original 88 palettes), trying out their 66 lip palette and their concealer. I’ve got plenty of plans for these babies! :D

I really hope that tomorrow’s weather is a little less crazy, because the rain is pouring in sheets and I have no hope of getting anything shot in natural light if this keeps up. :(

Love and kisses,
Vanessa

Maintenance Shenanigans

A car mechanic-themed pin-up shoot, yay! I’m not the best person to have around for car maintenance, but I definitely had fun (literally!) poking around under the hood. The ‘69 Camaro’s gorgeous, I wanted to take it home! I couldn’t find the keys, though. *whistles casually*

Sometimes, I don’t know anymore how the shoots start out. Sometimes it starts with the clothes, and the props/location search follows. Other times, the sexy car’s just sitting there and you do what you can to build your shoot around it. I think the latter was what happened here. The car never even left the garage. XD

'Twas definitely a liberating experience to touch all the dirty/dusty parts of the garage and not caring if I end up smudging dirt on myself while shooting. Maybe it'll get dirtier next time around?

Plenty of thanks to Mr. Norman Castillo for allowing us to shoot with his car! I’m definitely looking forward to shooting with it again. :D

Light & Easy (on LOOKBOOK.nu)

I find white an easy color to coordinate with. Some people steer away from white because of various reasons, ranging from “I don’t have enough white clothes for an outfit” to “I don’t want to become a giant target for food stains!”

I’m pretty picky with the white pieces that I choose. I usually go for lacy numbers like this one, because they can be dressed up or down just by layering them with other pieces. For this outfit, I decided to go with a dominantly white scheme with brown and nude-colored accents and finished it off with a pair of heels that I customized to my taste.

You can hype this on LOOKBOOK.nu

I swear, this happens way too often.
I’ve got a good pile of shoot backlog in my hard drives, and I wish I could share them all with you! I’ll be doing this sorta slowly, though. I’ve still got work to tend to, and articles to write, and content to create. XD
It’s already September 1 on this side of the world, so I better get my act together.

Photoshoot with @_pinuna this morning! <3 I’m glad we got to shoot; this has been delayed a couple of times because of schedule conflicts and the recent typhoon. Didn’t get to ask for a pic with @snowfallslasher because I was shy. BAHAHAHAHA /runs away

I think redheads have more fun.

Blond was the first hair color I ever really adored, and for some time, I did believe that blonds have more fun. Blond hair goes really well with pretty much every color I like to wear, and then some. But then I got my hands on my first ginger wig.

The shade I got was a nice, warm shade of auburn, and it felt so easy to pull on. I’m partial to warmer hair colors, and this shade fit the bill. Aside from catering to my redhead obsession preference, I found that this wig color also adds a little spunk to outfits. I honestly wouldn’t have tried this color scheme for my outfit if I didn’t have wigs in this shade.

Worn in these photos is my latest ginger acquisition, which pretty much combines all the things I like in wigs: reasonable length, curls, and ginger. I’ll probably take photos with the rest of my ginger wig collection sometime. XD
