The life, style, and derp of a small-town girl. Dress-up misadventures, crafting frustrations, and little obsessions can be found here.

I joined a spokesmodel search last year, and made it to the final round. We were required to submit a new shot, so I ran off and dragged Kat to shoot. XD
I wanted to try something different from my usual looks, so I decided to expose my legs and shoulders (which still feels weird to me, btw). After Kat showed me these shots, I was happy with them, BUT I felt they might be too risque to enter in the competition.
Some of these pics haven’t been posted on my page yet, so here’s a first look at them! :D I wanted to do a slightly different take on the “Little Black Dress” thing, and I think it worked for me. :P
What I found really funny, though, was the attention my legs received. It’s like, “Guys, they’re legs. You have legs too.” XD
At this point, I’m still figuring out which dresses/outfits/concepts to shoot next. Maybe there’ll be more of my legs? HAHAHA
‘Til next time, loves!
Cheers,
Vanessa

I was going through my hard drive, trying to organize my photo folders. I stumbled on a folder of outtakes from one of my favorite shoots, shot by Luisa Manuel. My awesome makeup was done by Caz Buss of Amadeobeloved. Everything came together so nicely, and I loved all my shots.
I normally post “nice” photos from my shoots. That’s usually what everyone sees on my page, and I rarely put up my awkward outtakes. Here’s a sample of a “proper” shot:

That’s what most people expect to see when I say I had a photo shoot. What happens between the proper shots is this, though:

Yes. I turn into the most awkward creature ever. Awkward pose, awkward face, awkward EVERYTHING. And it gets progressively worse as the shoot goes on.

Awkward face is awkward. This was unintentional on my part. Sometimes I like making faces at other people who are at the shoot, too. I am very easily distracted.

I end up goofing off when I can’t think of any more poses.

So, what’s the point in me showing you all of my derp faces?
A lot of people tell me I look glamorous/refined in my photos, and some people seem to believe that I never have bad moments caught on camera during shoots. Here ya go, y’all. Awkward faces everywhere, from yours truly. XD

The next time you see someone’s glamorous, fixed-up shots, you know that there are probably a bunch of unflattering photos of them that may never see the light of day. XD
Love,
Vanessa ♥

Oh my goodness, I remember this day! Boyfie had only been with me for a month when I wore this out on a date. XD I would definitely still wear something like this occasionally. :P
Surprisingly, I still have the pieces I used for this outfit. Maybe one of these days, I’ll get the chance to wear it a different way. <3

Hello, toothy grin. XD Wore this out to a date with my boyfie. I was going for a more punk/ero lolita look, but I think I ended up looking more gyaru. XD

Megurine Luka cosplay - Just Be Friends version
Worn at: VocaFusion (event video by reimaru here)
Niko invited me to do this photoshoot with him at last year’s VocaFusion, a Vocaloid-centric convention here in the Philippines. There’s going to be another VocaFusion this year, I’m definitely looking forward to that! :D
The JBF version of Luka was pretty popular, since it definitely is one of the easier versions to cosplay. Personally, I love the song. I don’t have any specific preference among the Vocaloids, I like listening to a bit from everyone.
Pulling off the shoot was, I admit, a bit nerve-wracking. I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels all jittery and panicky before any shoot, and this is a character that’s been shot hundreds of different ways. I think the shots turned out pretty well, considering it was semi-impromptu. XD I had plenty of fun, and I definitely would not hesitate to work with sir Jio and Niko again. :)
Oh, and here’s my favorite picture from that convention! JBF - Pimp Edition FTW. Jin and Kat were the most accurate JBF cosplayers there, IMO. <3
Here’s to future cosplays and fun shoots! I’ve got a couple of cosplans lined up for 2013, and I’ll be sharing them here soon enough. O u O

[sweater (used as dress) by Uniqlo x CanCan, belt (worn as headband) from SM Department store, necklaces from DressCodeFriendly, shoes by Janylin, bag was a gift]
The fun part about hanging out with Martin/frostloop is that I can be a lazy creature and he’s going to post-process the pictures the moment he gets home. HAHAHAHA
We hung out/ran around the mall yesterday, attempted to “attend” a convention, but ultimately failed. So we just store-hopped, I adopted a new digicam (that was a planned purchase, not an impulse buy!), and we ended up eating dinner.
I’m definitely still missing Hong Kong, and I wish I could go back already. XD The sorta-winter weather was perfect for dressing up, because I could wear what I like and I wouldn’t die from the heat. XD
This is my lazy attempt at wearing clothes meant for winter here in the Philippines. XD I can still get away with wearing warmer pieces, but I don’t think I’m gonna be wearing this outside of malls. XD
